DCU CSN and NCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment)

The DCU CSN team was delighted to work with the NCCA at their recent conference at Croke Park.

The conference was held to gather feedback on the Draft Primary Curriculum Specifications as part of the wider consultation process.

3 of our DCU CSN schools were in attendance as their schools were used in the NCCA video. The children in the schools also attended a panel discussion.

We are so proud of the three schools involved:

Ringsend BNS

Rathcoole ETNS

St. Micheal’s Special School Baldoyle

CPD provided to schools this year in schools and in the DCU IoE

This year we held three on-site CPD sessions as well as our conference.

The schools were offered support on FUSE and Communities of Practice by DCU Changemaker School Fellow Lisa Clarke

Our new schools were offered a session in DCU with the Data Protection Unit (DPU)

We also visited two DCU Changemaker Schools Francis Street School and St Ultans P.S.

At both school visits we held panels with children and teachers, visited classrooms and had a chance to network and chat.

Next year we will be going to Galway.

We visited all schools in the Network to provide one-to-one support with their school as a Changemaker School, their DCU CSN plan and of course we worked with all student councils and committees.

We hold many peer-to-peer learning sessions  this year with both principals and change leaders.

In June we held a peer-to-peer learning session with all Change Leaders to discuss:

  • The perspectives of a new school joined since December 2023
  • The perspective of a school involved since 2017
  • A interesting initiative

This was an exciting meeting with full attendance

It teaches us to take responsibility. So, you don't have to follow people around
and you can do your own thing.
