This page contains guidelines and assets to ensure the University's brand and messaging is represented consistently.

DCU’s Brand Guidelines were updated in 2022. The online guidelines have restricted access to the Communications and Marketing Department and Faculty marketing and communications staff members.
Elements of the guideline such as logos, powerpoint templates, word doc templates, academic posters etc are available to all staff for download through our guidelines webpage.
Canva is a platform used by many units within DCU to create graphics and content for social media. To create engaging and original content, we provide branded templates to those who wish to use the platform.

You can design your own slide for our digital screens (as seen in the library, U Building etc) or send a request to branding@dcu.ie
Rules for creating content:
- Screens are landscape format so your artwork/poster must be 16:9, 1920px x 1080px.
- Keep it short! Our maximum for one slide is three lines of text with five words per line
- Always provide a URL or scannable QR code where staff and students can go to learn more about the event. Design team can provide you with a QR code
- Slides must be submitted at least seven days before the event takes place

Please ensure your email signature is up to date.
Please note that both your out-of-office messages and your email signature must appear in both English and Irish to comply with Official Language Act.
In order to make event invites as accessible as possible, we create all digital invitations for email using Mailchimp.

Objektiv Mk 2 and Calluna are our primary typefaces. They should be used for all our designed materials.
Arial is our digital font for use in email, word docs, ppt docs and any other digital platform where it is not feasible to use Objektiv Mk 2 or Calluna.

We have a library of icons that we can pull from to use across a multitude of design and marketing materials. To avail of this library, please send us an email with your requirements: branding@dcu.ie
Within the current brand guidelines we have a library of icons that we use to create infographics for print, social media or presentations.
Please note, a ‘flat’ infographic is not digitally accessible. These infographics can be used on social media and print only. These cannot be used on the website for accessibility reasons.

Imagery and photography is integral to what the marketing team does. We have specific guidelines around imagery and photography that we use in order to create engaging and documentary-style photography.
We have a number of options for you to choose from to accommodate your needs.
Pixieset Account:
Our current stock of photography is hosted using a platform called Pixieset. This account has a range of general images as well as images from news articles, DCU events, and convocations. Please contact us for the login details to this account: branding@dcu.ie
iStock Account:
When needed, we are able to use the DCU iStock account to download imagery for areas we haven’t yet covered with DCU stock photography. To avail of this support please contact one of our team: branding@dcu.ie
