DCU’s BA in Climate and Environmental Sustainability – A degree that matters
Recent climate stories such as the record-breaking temperatures, extreme heat, drought and flooding highlight the urgent need for climate action. Many areas of the world are also seeing significant declines in air, water and soil quality along with biodiversity loss. COVID-19 has shown us that the environment can recover quickly if action is taken collectively. One of the challenges we
face is that there are not enough people with the skills working on these topics. However, climate and environmental sustainability roles are recognised as one of the fastest growing areas of employment globally. On the back of the major global climate and environmental issues we face, we launched the BA in Climate and Environmental Sustainability at DCU in 2020 to ensure that our graduates have an opportunity to be a part of the solution to climate and environmental sustainability issues. The BA in Climate and Environmental Sustainability provides a balanced approach to both natural and social science modules related to geography, climate and environmental sustainability, something which is unique in third-level education in Ireland. The closing date for CAO change of mind is 1st of July. If you’d like to know more about the programme, get in touch with me, Dr. Darren Clarke (Programme Chair) at darren.p.clarke@dcu.ie
