Graduation 8th November 2018
Graduation day is always a special one on our calendar. This past 8th November, approximately 150 of our History and Geography BAs graduated in the Helix. We extend our warmest congratulations to each and every one.
Particular congratulations go to two BA students who received medals for attaining the highest marks in History and Geography. Brendan Walsh received the DCU History Medal from Prof James Kelly for the highest grade in History. Brendan is currently working in the tourism industry in Spain. Erica Fox received the Dillon Medal for Geography. Erica is currently studying for an MSc in Climate Change in Maynooth University.
The highlight of the day was the graduation of Mary MacDiarmada and Kevan O'Rourke, who graduated with a PhD from the School of History and Geography. Mary's PhD, supervised by Dr Daithí Ó Corráin, was on Art O'Brien and Irish Nationalism in London, while Kevan's topic was Carleton's prose and was supervised by Dr Leeann Lane. These were the first PhDs that have been awarded by the School.
