DCU Library's Data Retention Policies
During library events, the DCU Library and/or Communications and Marketing team may take photographs and video recordings of people attending the event.
These images and recordings may be used to promote this event on DCU Library’s social media accounts and on the DCU website. They may also be included in internal and external reports, promotional materials and presentations highlighting DCU Library’s outreach activities.
For a period of five years, these photographs and videos may be used to promote the library’s outreach activities on the platforms described above. After this time the images will be stored indefinitely in secure digital folders that will be accessible by designated library staff only. From this point they will be used for historical purposes only (to mark DCU/DCU Library anniversaries, historical publications, information on the history of DCU/DCU Library in print or digital format) on the DCU/DCU Library website and social media platforms.
If there is a registration page for a library event, it will be made clear on this page if images and video will be recorded at the event. You will be asked to read this policy before registering for the event. When you register, you are giving DCU Library your consent to share photographs or videos that feature your image on the platforms described above and to thereafter store these images, as described above.
You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time and to request access to, and erasure of your personal data, if you so desire.
By registering for for this event you are confirming that you understand that you have no interest in the copyright, nor any moral rights, in the photograph, video or voice recording captured. You waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product or copy and any use thereof. You are agreeing to release and discharge the Photographer/Videographer/Sound Recordist and his/her respective representatives, licensees, successors and assigns, specifically from any and all claims, actions and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of said photographs, video, voice recordings, or written testimonials
including, without limitation, any and all claims for invasion of privacy and libel, for the 5 years onwards from the signed date.

DCU Library will use the personal data provided by sixth year students in the online Google form provided for the purpose of the Leaving Certificate Masterclasses only. The personal data will be retained until 1 August of the current year, after this it will be deleted in a secure manner. Please note that the name of the student's school will be retained for statistical purposes. DCU Library will not disclose your personal data to any external body.

The personal data will be retained for 30 days before being automatically deleted in a secure manner. This information will be shared only with the host software for the chat process.
