The current research project that FETRC are engaging relates to innovative models of cooperation between agents in vET area. The project entitled Partnership for Lifelong Learning - Tec. aims to study the conditions and design of integrated education and bridging programs in technical occupations as well as their impact on a successful entry into the labour market as well as the development of vocational identity of learners. The project seeks for general conclusions in the respective national context and in a European perspective. Future programs can benefit from the experiences made and documented in cases of best practise which the study aims to identify. FETRCs partners include.
Institute Technology and Education University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany
The Institute Technology and Education (ITB) is one of the leading research institutes in vocational education and training and runs its research committed to the idea of shaping the triangle of work, technology and education. The institute aims at a close connection with the reform of vocational education and training and innovation in the field of work and technology. Therefore, not only an interdisciplinary but – in times of globalisation – also an international research-approach is necessary. For that reason educators, engineers, sociologists, economists and specialists from several other disciplines are engaged in the research of the ITB, which often is embedded in national or international networks. The ITB covers a wide range of research and development projects on a regional, national and international level. Most projects are run in co-operation with industry and other VET institutions. In addition, the ITB acts jointly with relevant institutions in Europe, Asia and America.

Free Trade Union Confederation (FTUC) was founded in 1990. FTUC is national level social partner, representing approximately 100,000 workers (unites 13% of all workers in Latvia). FTUC member organizations are 20 independent branch trade unions representing all economy spheres in all Latvia regions. FTUC has experience in leading ESF projects and other projects. HOU – Hellenic Open University Patra, Greece
Hellenic Open University (HOU) is a Public University founded by the Greek Government in 1992 and fully operational since 1997. HOU consists of four Schools and offers 31 programmes of study to about 35,000 adult students, who are dispersed all over the country. It is the only Greek University that uses the distance learning methodology combined with the principles of adult education. About 80% of its students are working professionals who seek a further education degree in order to improve or change their career. Through its Schools and Laboratories, HOU applies educational, methodological and technological innovation in distance learning and educational content development.

IMH – The Machine Tool Institute, Elgoibar, Basque Country (Spain)
The Machine Tool Institute is a Technological Innovation Centre servicing Industry and the community, through technical training and technological diffusion. The first steps were taken in 1986 as a group project of professionals in training, who after receiving support from institutions and companies in the Basque Country, set up the Foundation for Technical Training in Machine Tools. The headquarters of the IMH was inaugurated in 1991. Right from the start of our activities, the IMH has worked to stimulate development and progress of the Machine Tool Cluster. In an increasingly competitive sector, one must offer adequate training to the youth, paying heed to concrete needs of companies, in regard to both skilled professionals, and the area of preparation in new technology.
