Launch of EPALE in Ireland
Justin Rami, John Lalor and Jane O’Kelly attended the official launch of EPALE in Ireland, in Croke Park in November 2015 organised by Léargas. The event brought together more than sixty stakeholders in adult learning. From tutors to course coordinators, project managers to organisation directors and researchers, a great range adult learning organisations were represented. EPALE is theElectronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe which is a multilingual open membership community for professionals involved in Adult Learning in Europe. It was designed with input from practitioners and is intended for all those active in the field, including teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, and policy makers. EPALE is operated by the European Commission and supported by the governments of member states. Léargas is the National Support Service for EPALE in Ireland.
Over the course of the day participants had the opportunity to hear from wonderful guest speakers on the topics of Learner Centred Approach and the Benefits of European Collaboration. There was also an open networking space for some ‘real life’ EPALE resource sharing and two workshops by FETRC's Jane O’Kelly on Virtual Communities and the Opportunities for EPALE in the Future.
