Pretoria FET Forum
Justin Rami from DCU’s Further Education & Training Research Centre (FETRC) and Stan McHugh (former CEO of the Further Education and Training Awards Council – FETAC now QQI) have been invited by the European Commission to South Africa to represent the Irish Further Education & Training Forum at the South African – European Union Workshop on lecturer Development in Pretoria, South Africa, 26-27 March 2015.
The National FET Forum is made up of members from the Teaching Council of Ireland, Waterford Institute of Technology, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Marino Institute, Maynooth University, National College of Art & Design, National University of Ireland Galway & Dublin City University.
The workshops offer the FET Forum an opportunity to highlight its work in the area of professional development advocacy in the Further Education & Training Sector in Ireland.
- To continually improve the quality of teaching in the Further Education and Training Sector
- The Forum will champion the sector by developing collaborative working strategies and a community of practice
- It will influence national policy for the sector and will establish links with the Department of Education and Skills, the Teaching Council, SOLAS, the ETB’s and QQI
Dr Rami & Mr McHugh aim to highlight the work of the Forum in Ireland and contribute to ongoing discussion regarding lecture development the professional role of the F/VET teacher.
