Welcome to DCU in the Community

DCU in the Community is a bridge to higher education. Our mission is:

"To provide educational opportunities to local people in North Dublin in order to increase participation levels and to promote equality in third level education."

As part of its Civic Engagement Strategy Dublin City University in June 2008 partnered with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd (BRL) to set up an outreach centre based in the Shangan Road neighbourhood in the heart of Ballymun.

Our aim is to broaden access and participation in higher education among Ballymun and North Dublin residents.

DCU in the Community brings the opportunities of higher education to people who have not engaged with it before. It recognises the individual talents of each student and offers a flexible curriculum based on the student's needs and ambitions. The outreach centre will also promote sustainable community development and serve as a bridge to the resources of DCU and the wider higher education system.

The centre also acts as a 'drop-in' centre for all learners seeking information and advice in relation to accessing further education options.
