Peter J Mc Evoy

Dr Peter McEvoy has 30 years of professional experience as an international development practitioner and analyst in the civil society, social policy, and education sectors. He has expertise in conducting and leading feasibility, appraisal, strategic planning and evaluation assignments, having worked extensively (across 25 countries) as an independent development and capacity building consultant on behalf of Irish Aid, missionary bodies, NGOs, and the European Commission. He has also served with Irish Aid as in-country programme coordinator in Lesotho, and prior to that as the Programme Director of HEDCO-Ireland (Higher Education for Development Cooperation).  In the period 2009-11, he was based in DCU as Manager of the Irish Africa Partnership for Research Capacity Building. He has also served as a Steering Committee member of the Development Studies Association Ireland (2013-16), and External Examiner for Kimmage Development Studies Centre, Dublin and the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (2012-16). 

Peter holds a Doctorate from Dublin City University (Business School); this was awarded in 2018 for a thesis “Cooperation, Complexity and Adaptation” which investigated  modalities of capacity development in donor aid programming to sub-Saharan Africa over the past quarter-century). He also holds MSc (Econ) from Trinity College Dublin.
