Apply for the KickStart Scholarship

The KickStart Scholarship has been established by the Probation Service and supported by the Irish Prison Service, to support persons with a criminal justice history who are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage to access Higher Education (HE). These scholarships meet a strategic objective of the Working to Change Social Enterprise and Employment Strategy 2021-2023

Please note: all of the information you provide in your KickStart application will be treated in a sensitive and confidential manner. Your information will be stored, secured, and remain strictly private and confidential, accessible only to those evaluating the application to assess your eligibility for the KickStart Scholarship.

All of the information collected in this form is used to assess your application, some of the data will be anonymised and used for research and statistical reporting.

Before you start to complete your KickStart Application:

Review the criteria and application form questions for the KickStart Scholarship and determine whether you are eligible to apply for this Scholarship. If you have any queries at any point as you work through this application form, please contact the DCU team.
If your application progresses, you may be asked to provide supporting documentation. You are strongly encouraged to refer to this checklist as soon as you decide to apply, as it may take up to a month to gather. For your security, do not send any of your supporting documentation by email.

The DCU team is available to provide guidance on completing this application form and the supporting documentation you may need. They can also advise on alternative support if you are not eligible for this scholarship.
