Professor Bert Gordijn takes part in international UNESCO initiatives

Professor Bert Gordijn, Professor of Ethics and Director of the Institute of Ethics, has recently been taking part in several international ethics-related initiatives.

Professor Gordijn took part in an Ethics Teacher Training Course held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 20 to 24 of February 2017, organized jointly by UNESCO and the Institute for Research and Development (IRD). Its aim was to advance quality ethics education by building professional capacities of ethics teachers. The Course was  based on a one week training module developed by UNESCO in collaboration with global experts in ethics education. For further information see here.

An Ethics Teacher Training Course, organised jointly by UNESCO and Airlangga University, was held in Surabaya, Indonesia from 24 to 28 of April 2017. Its aim was to advance quality ethics education by building professional capacities of ethics teachers in the country and the wider region. The Course was based on a one-week training module developed by UNESCO in collaboration with global experts in ethics education.  A training of the National Bioethics Committee in Malawi ​is taking place in Lilongwe, Malawi, from 22 to 26 May 2017. This training focuses on spearheading the development, review and assessment of national policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations and standards within the research and development enterprise pertaining to bioethics. It aims at fostering debate, public awareness, engagement and consciousness in matters of bioethics at national level. For further information see here.
