Lumen, Lumen, Mater Dei Video Launch
A large crowd gathered in Woodlock Hall, DCU All Hallows Campus, for the launch of the Lumen, Lumen, Mater Dei video on Monday 10th April. The video was produced as part of the DCU Incorporation Heritage Project ‘Honouring Sounds and Spaces: the Compositional Legacy of MDI and SPD’, led by Dr Róisín Blunnie and Dr Seán Doherty of the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music.
The launch event featured performances by the DCU Lumen Chorale and Trad Group, along with screenings of the new video, which combines the choral piece Lumen, Lumen, Mater Dei, composed by Donal Hurley, with footage of scenes from the campus of Mater Dei Institute. MDI has now incorporated fully into Dublin City University, and the old campus has changed purpose. The Lumen video preserves something of the memory and character of MDI, as well as highlighting the Institute's musical legacy.
