Continental Philosophy: The Future of the Theological Turn?

The School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music will host a Philosophy and Theology Symposium called Continental Philosophy: The Future of the Theological Turn?

This one-day symposium two important thinkers will explore the challenges and prospects of the ‘theological turn’ in Continental Philosophy of Religion. Each of the two sessions will feature a formal response, and the organisers hope to encourage wide discussion among participants and audience.

Speakers:

• Jeffrey Bloechl 

Jeffrey Bloechl is Professor of Philosophy at Boston College. Among his many publications are Liturgy of the Neighbour: Emmanuel Levinas and the Religion of Responsibility (Duquesne University Press, 2000) and he edited Christianity and Secular Reason: Classical Themes and Modern Developments (Notre Dame University Press, 2012).

• Felix Ó Murchadha 

Felix Ó Murchadha is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at National University of Ireland at Galway. Among his many publications are The Time of Revolution: Kairos and Chronos in Heidegger (Bloomsbury, 2012) and A Phenomenology of Christian Life: Glory and Night (Indiana University Press, 2013).
