You are providing your contact details (Name, Email) for one of the following purposes:
- You have an interest in studying in DCU and you wish to be kept informed by email of DCU news relevant to study at DCU.
- You wish to register for an event – either an Open Day or Online Webinar. Once you register for the event, you will be emailed further details regarding the event, for example, schedule of activities.
DCU and the Student Recruitment Office shall only process such information in line with the purpose(s) for which you provide it and to the extent necessary to provide you with the information or service(s) you require.
In the case of collecting information from prospective students, the details you provide will be used to establish a database of contact details which can be used to contact you for the purpose of one of the following:
- To email you a newsletter containing information on an upcoming DCU open day.
- A reminder of the resources available to you on DCU Information hubs (DCU CAO Hub, DCU Postgraduate Hub, DCU Global Hub) which include podcasts, subject specific webinar recordings, information for stakeholders (parent/guardian, prospective undergraduate, postgraduate or international students), virtual campus tour recordings. The DCU Information Hubs contains information that will help you make an informed decision on the course and place you have an interest in studying in.
- An email with specific information on a course you have expressed an interest in, for example, a dedicated open day for that specific subject that you can register to attend.
- To offer you the opportunity to avail of a ‘call-back’ from a DCU Student Recruitment Officer to answer questions you have on studying at DCU.
The personal data you provide can be disclosed to DCU Faculty staff to support the services we provide to you, for example, if a faculty is organising a subject specific open day and you have expressed an interest in that subject, you will receive an email invitation to attend.

Storing of your data
Your data will be stored by DCU on a DCU Marketing Platform called ‘Click Dimensions’ for a period of three years from the date you filled out a Keep in Touch form or the Registration Form for an Open Day Event. Once the 3-year period has passed, your contact details will be deleted manually from Click Dimensions
Sharing your data
The data you have provided will be shared with the staff and agents of the DCU Schools Liaison Office, to ensure you are provided with the most relevant information. Your data will not be shared with any party outside of DCU.
Legal bases for processing your personal data
Your consent forms the legal basis that enables us to process your personal data. Therefore, please be advised that individuals have the right to withdraw their consent at any time and that doing so does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent prior to withdrawal.
Withdrawing your consent
You can opt out from receiving further email newsletters by scrolling to the bottom of the newsletter where you will find the following instruction to unsubscribe:
Once you unsubscribe, your name and email address will automatically be removed from the marketing platform, Click Dimensions.
Alternatively, you can email the Student Recruitment Team directly at studenthelp@dcu.ie and insert ‘Email Opt Out’ in the subject line. Your name and email address will then be manually removed from the marketing platform, Click Dimensions.
Your Data Protection Rights
Under data protection legislation, you have certain rights in relation to your personal data. These include:
- The right of access to the personal data relating to you
- The right to be informed about how your personal data is used by us
- The right to rectification if your personal data is inaccurate
- The right of erasure of your personal data, in certain circumstances
- The right to object to processing of your personal data, in certain circumstances
- The right to data portability, in certain circumstances
- Rights in relation to automated decision-making, including profiling
Personal information that you submit to the Student Recruitment Office of Dublin City University (DCU) will be treated in accordance with the DCU Data Protection Policy which can be viewed by clicking here .

- Citizenship
- Specify (yes or no) if you are a Mature applicant
- Specify (yes or no) if you are a QQI Level 5 applicant
