SPACE: SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES ACROSS CURRICULUM AND EDUCATION

Cloughjordan May 2017

16 staff from across 5 schools of the DCU Institute of Education travelled to the eco-village at Cloughjordan in Co Tipperary to take part in a research forum on Education and Sustainability.

The aim of this new initiative is to build a community of research practice across the Institute focused on education for all aspects of sustainability. The objective of the two ‘away-days’ in Cloughjordan was to learn about each other’s thinking and practice in Education for Sustainability (EfS), to explore the various dimensions of sustainability being researched and to develop opportunities for collaboration.

We chose Cloughjordan as it offers a working model of sustainability-in-action, has on-site experts in the field of EfS and so provided an ideal context for our conversations.

Research arising from our shared discussions is already happening and will be on-going. We would be very happy to welcome new interest in SPACE – no commitments required, only an interest in sustainability. Please contact Rosalind Duke for further information at Rosalind.duke@dcu.ie
