DCU welcomes Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
Dublin City University welcomed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to DCU on Monday October 3rd to share his vision on the future of learning.
During a fireside chat with Professor Deirdre Butler, DCU Institute of Education, the Microsoft chief spoke about inspiring the next generation of teachers to engage and embrace new learning technologies.
In a wide-ranging conversation, Mr Nadella spoke about:
- Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and every organisation on the planet and what this means for teachers and students - “Educators are the purest form of empowerment. There cannot be higher leverage than teaching.”
- Democratising AI and how teachers can transform their classrooms in response to AI.
- His predictions for the classrooms of the future - “The computational thinking developed through Minecraft may be of benefit in a wide range of careers.”
- The skills and attributes our educators should be aware of to prepare our young people for the future - “Many jobs of the future will be in digital technologies - computational fluency is important for children.”
- Advice on how to seize the technology opportunity ahead - “The inspired teacher can do anything”.
Thanking Mr Nadella for his insights, Professor Butler said:
