Academic biography

Dr Lijie Shao has been teaching Chinese as an international language and intercultural studies in Irish higher education since 2015. She is also a freelancer in interpretation specialized in conference, business and public legal system. Prior to her academic career, she had six years' full time industry experience in international higher education consultancy in Beijing, China. Thus she has ample experience in higher education service and student engagement.

Her research focuses on English medium instruction (EMI) in higher education in the context of internationalization and globalization, multilingualism in China from the sociolinguistic aspect, and teaching Chinese as an international language in higher education.
