Event Report: Physical Sciences 30 Years
On the 29th of May the School of Physical Sciences held an event to celebrate 30 years of teaching and research at DCU. The event was held at the Helix and had presentations from several key members of the DCU community, including University President Professor Brian MacCraith, who highlight the great strides the school has taken since its humble beginnings in 1981. Several leading DCU alumni spoke about the role that physics has played in their careers and how it currently underpins R&D in their business. A poster session held on the day allowed the school to present the wide range of research areas in which it is currently active. A video presented on the day which highlights the schools teaching and research strengths can be found here.
The school would like to extend thanks to Joe Gilmore (CEO at Ireland West Airport), Gareth Forde (CEO Intelligent Energy), Oonagh Meighan (COO Crème Global) and Conor Burke, (Associate Director, DCU Biomedical Diagnostics Institute) for talking the time to present at the event and help make it a success.
