DCU People is dedicated to supporting you to remain motivated and healthy while working at DCU. We work closely with the University’s Occupational Health Advisors, Medmark and the University’s Health and Safety Office to ensure colleagues are well at work, both physically and mentally.
Here we explain some of the initiatives, programmes and events that support your health at work:
Pre-employment Screening of new employees to secure expert advice about supports and accommodations that may be needed to assist staff in carrying out their roles when they commence employment with the DCU. This screening also enables the University to provide any appropriate ongoing Occupational Health supports throughout an employee’s career with the University.
Ongoing Occupational Health Support / Assessments are arranged in the event of certain short or long-term illness or when there are concerns arising regarding an employee’s health, safety and overall wellbeing in the workplace.
Occupational Health assessments can also be arranged to support staff who may acquire a disability during their employment with the University. Medmark, the University Medical Advisors, carry out these assessments and provide advice and recommendations to support the employee during what can be challenging times with a view to facilitating a full return to work.
University Employee Assistance Service provides immediate ‘in the moment’, fully confidential support for your mental wellbeing and a wide variety of other practical problems. The service provides access to a fully qualified team of counsellors and experts who are experienced in personal and work-related issues. Find out more about the EAS Wellbeing Portal.
The DCU Group Income Continuance Scheme provides reassurance and protects your salary against the impact of illness or disability from work, by providing you with a replacement income should you fall ill and become unable to work. Exclusively available to DCU staff members who are members of the DCU Superannuation Schemes, the security and benefits of this Income Continuance Plan are not available anywhere else. Find out more about the plan.
For colleagues who hold private health insurance or who are considering taking it out for the first time, these sessions deal with common myths, how to save money and how to find the best deal to meet your needs.
