Dr. Shadi Karazi
Dr Shadi Karazi is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in teaching, learning technologies, and educational development. His expertise is highly sought after within DCU, which is striving to adapt to the demands of continual digital transformation.
Shadi’s career at DCU spans various roles. He served as an educator in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, demonstrating his pedagogical foundation. He then leveraged his expertise as the Head of ISS Student Support in the Information Systems Services department and as a Learning Technologist in the Teaching Enhancement Unit (TEU), showcasing his commitment to bridging the gap between teaching and technology.
Currently, Shadi works as the Senior Learning Technologist at DCU Business School (DCUBS), a prestigious AACSB and AMBA accredited institution within DCU. Recognising the crucial role of technology in contemporary education, Shadi actively collaborates with DCUBS staff, providing invaluable guidance on aligning teaching methods with the latest learning technologies and ensuring high-quality, student-centred, technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Shadi dedication extends beyond individual and programme teams consultations. He actively fosters a vibrant community of practice within DCUBS. He spearheaded the development of an online staff training course on DCUBS SharePoint, empowering academic staff with best practices, innovations, and practical tips for effective technology integration. Additionally, he facilitates numerous workshops and support sessions, focusing on the integration of digital tools with innovative teaching and learning methods.
Shadi is a forward-thinker who continuously investigates emerging trends in technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and the potential of new tools like ChatGPT and VR for educational purposes. He actively contributes to policy and practice discussions within DCUBS, ensuring informed decision-making towards the future of learning.
Shadi has successfully assisted in securing internal and external research fundings, collaborating with colleagues on research projects that have been disseminated into many highly cited peer-reviewed journal publications and book chapters. He has also organised and contributed conferences at DCU and internationally, sharing his expertise with a wider audience.
Shadi’s dedication is further evidenced by his repeated nominations for the prestigious DCU President's Award for Professional Staff, which he won in 2020. These recognitions reflect not only his individual excellence but also the exceptional talent that thrives within the DCU community.
Shadi holds a PhD in Automated Control of Laser Systems from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He has an MSc in Education and Training Management (eLearning) from the DCU Institute of Education. His multifaceted skill set makes him an invaluable asset to DCU. His collaborative spirit, leadership qualities, and commitment to delivering high-quality work consistently yield successful outcomes.
