Ross Munnelly
Director of Alumni Relations
DCU
Ross has worked in various roles at DCU since July 2006 including Sports Development, Student Recruitment, and the Careers Service and Alumni Relations. He was appointed as DCU’s first Director of Alumni Relations in 2017 and leads the alumni team, DCU’s central point for alumni engagement on behalf of the university.
Ross is a four time graduate of DCU, he most recently completed the Executive MBA in 2020. He is a trained mediator and careers consultant and represents DCU on the CASE Europe Alumni Relations Faculty, leading a European conference annually for best practice in alumni engagement.
He is passionate about building teams and collaborating with colleagues across the university. During his time as Director of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Office and Careers Service Graduate to Student Mentorship Programme won the prestigious L&DI Ireland ‘Excellence in Mentorship’ Award, a programme designed for graduates to mentor second year students. The programme is transformative for students and graduates and lives the DCU mission to transform lives and societies.
Ross recalls the June Graduation Celebrations of 2022 as his favourite DCU memory, with 8,000 graduates afforded the opportunity to cross the stage in The Helix. During the pandemic, DCU promised graduates who could not celebrate their milestone at the time, that they would have that moment to celebrate in DCU. Witnessing the university deliver on that promise and the joy of graduates celebrating with their families whilst receiving a whilst crossing the stage in the Mahony Hall was a poignant moment for DCU, delivering on a promise to recognise and celebrate their academic excellence.
He believes strongly in work life balance and outside of work he continues to play Gaelic Football with his club in Co. Laois and he dedicates a lot of time to coaching and developing players.
