Key findings: Culture at DCU
- Just over half of respondents overall believe that DCU is meaningfully building an anti-racist university community; however, those from ethnic minority groups agree less (47%).
- Only 8% of respondents overall disagree that they are fairly treated in DCU regardless of their ethnicity and/or race; however, this jumps to 23% when looking at ethnic minority groups.
- 72% agree that they have access to career development and progression opportunities in DCU regardless of their ethnicity and/or race. This percentage decreases slightly to 68% when we filter by ethnic minority groups.
Key findings: Experiences of unfair treatment
- 11% have experienced bullying, harassment and/or discrimination because of their ethnicity and/or race.
- Just under half of respondents are aware of how to report incidences of bullying, harassment and/or discrimination, and would be comfortable reporting such incidences.
- 42% of respondents feel confident that incidences would be appropriately managed.
- Awareness of the Speak Out anonymous reporting tool is low, with 59% unaware.
Key findings: Perceptions of available anti-racism resources
- Only 37% of respondents are aware of DCU’s Anti- Racism online resource hub, with only 13% agreeing that they have visited the site.
- The majority of respondents (68%) are aware of our Anti-Racism training for staff.
