Gender Equality (Athena Swan) Working Group
The Institutional Gender Equality Working Group (GEWG) will work as a group to drive forward the development and improvement of practical steps towards the advancement of equality and equity.
The Gender Equality Working Group will be responsible for substantial self-analysis and strive to ensure that the principles of Athena Swan are embedded throughout the University.
The GEWG has been established to:
- Oversee, guide, and monitor the implementation of the University's Athena Swan Silver Action Plan (SAP) 2024 - 2028;
- Inform the University Community with progress updates regularly and;
- Evaluate progress and determine impact of actions.
In line with best practice guidance from Athena Swan Ireland, the membership of the GEWG will ensure diverse membership, covering different levels of the institution, including representation from professional services, academics, researchers and students. Gender balance will be maintained on the ASWG, with at least 40% of each gender represented. Members will be, where feasible, from a variety of backgrounds and with different experiences, with consideration of intersectionality.
