First visiting professor from Ireland takes part in Turkey university International Week
Earlier this month, Dr. Jordan Gamble of DCU Centre for Family Business travelled to Izmir, Turkey, to become the first visiting professor from Ireland to take part in Dokuz Eylul University's International Week. Having been awarded an Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility Grant in September 2017, Jordan used this funding to secure a Visiting Professorship at the university's Business School, and spent the week teaching a nine-hour course to twenty undergraduate business students as part of their eleventh annual International Week.
The course was centred around co-creation between business practicioners and end consumers, and discussed topics such as crowdfunding, consumer-driven marketing and creative co-production.
"I thoroughly enjoyed this teaching experience and found both the students and staff to be extremely friendly and engaging. As it was also my first time in Turkey, and as I was the first Visiting Professor from Ireland to take part in their International Week, I found the whole experience to be culturally enriching and I enjoyed representing DCU and Ireland at this international event." Dr. Jordan Gamble.
The Erasmus programme is an EU education programme which promotes multilateral cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe and also aims to promote intercountry cooperation between universities. It was named after Dutch scientist Erasmus (1469-1536) who was an important representative of Renaissance Humanism. Being the first visiting professor from Ireland to take part in the programme's eleven year hsitory at Dokuz Eylul University, Dr. Jordan Gamble has added another dimension of diversity, cooperation and academic enrichment to the Erasmus programme in Turkey.
