CFB Scholars Present at Leading Entrepreneurship Conference

The DCU CFB's Vanessa Diaz and Catherine Faherty were 2 of 25 doctoral students worldwide to attend and present at a prestigious international conference and consortium last week.  Unusually, both Ms Diaz and Ms Faherty, two scholars from the same university, were chosen to present at the conference.

Ms Diaz and Ms Faherty attended the annual entrepreneurship Doctoral Consortium as part of the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC).

This three day conference, held this year in Boston, Massachusetts, attracts over 350 entrepreneurial scholars annually.

Each year, over 220 papers are presented and Ms Diaz and Ms Faherty presented theirs at the 2015 conference, held between 10th and 13th of June. Both PhD students had the opportunity to receive feedback on their paper, speak with leading scholars in the field of entrepreneurship and share their research interests at the doctoral consortium, held in conjunction with the conference.

Following the event, Ms. Diaz remarked:

"I am so grateful I was selected to participate in the 2015 BCERC conference. It has been an excellent opportunity for educational sessions, networking opportunities and learning the top research on Entrepreneurship. This unique and rewarding experience enabled me to discuss our own work with key scholars in the field."

Ms Diaz’s PhD topic focuses on long-term orientation in family businesses and Ms Faherty’s PhD topic is on innovation in family businesses. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the conference, having been founded by Babson College in 1981.
