Design Thinking and Family Business
NCFB's corporate partner AIB and Chartered Accountants Ireland recently invited DCU's Dr Peter Robbins to speak at their virtual CPD event on 21st September.
Peter is ‘Professor of Practice’ having spent the first 20 years of his career in the business practice of innovation in big pharma (GSK) completing his journey as Global Director of Innovation Excellence before applying his practice to the empowering world of research and education.
Sharing his expertise with participants from an academic perspective, Dr Robbin's research examines how family businesses approach the process of innovation.
He was in tremendous company at this event where 5th-generation family business member Rosy Temple, CEO of Magee Clothing at Magee 1866, spoke of her own multi-generational family business journey.
Today four members of the Temple family continue to drive this weaving and clothing brand. They continue to be immersed in the local county Donegal Irish community stretching out to international global luxury markets. Magee 1866 speaks to heritage and sustainability with deep design roots while innovating towards the future and preparing for the next generation by considering succession strategies early - a fascinating story.
