Roundtable on Gender, Activism, and Subjectivity in Contention and Conflict held

The round table event on "Gender, Activism and Subjectivity in Contention and Conflict" was organised by Dr Paola Rivetti and Dr Erika Biagini, with the support of DCU’s Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction (IICRR) and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences held on Monday evening.

The round table was introduced by Prof John Doyle, chaired by Dr Theresa O'Keefe (University College Cork), and featured Dr Shirin Saeidi (Arkansas University), Zahra Abbasi (University of Shiraz, Iran, and Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany), Dr Lucia Ardovini (Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Stockholm), Dr Merve Kütük-Kuriş (Şehir University, Turkey) and Dr Aitemad Muhanna-Matar (London School of Economics).

Taking stock from the events of the 2010-11 Arab uprisings, scholars and activists joined together to explore the various ways in which gender identities and subjectivities are transformed as a result of individual and collective engagement in contentious politics, activism and conflict.
