`Networks of Extremism in the Digital Age` event holds insightful CVE discussion
The Security Distillery hosted 'Networks of Extremism in the Digital Age' event in the Solar Room in U building in DCU on Tuesday, 19 March. The event was sponsored by VOX-Pol as part of their committment to Erasmus Mundus of the Joint Master Degree in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS), which is a joint collaboration between University of Glasgow, Dublin City University and Charles University Prague.
Javier Martines, Heather McDonald and Felipe Simoni presented their insights on far-right extremist groups in the EU, the UK and the US. Heather McDonald in her presentation revealed that For the first time since 2005, white people were the largest group to be arrested on the accusation of terrorism in the UK.
Later on, Dr. Orla Lehane, Dr. James Fitzgerald and Prof. Maura Conway held an insightful discussion on countering violent extremism (CVE) and discussed the findings of their research projects, which have focused on CVE during the last several years.
DCU Postgraduate Society and Irish Postgraduate Research Conference supported the event.
