30th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
On 20th November the Institute of Education's Prof. James O'Higgins Norman and Dr. Seline Keating attend UNESCO's 40th General Conference special event to mark the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Paris.
Prof. James O'Higgins Norman, who is Director of the National Anti-Bullying Centre and holds the UNESCO Chair on Tackling Bullying in Schools and Cyberspace, was invited to give an address on violence against children.
In his address James spoke about the need to create cultures of care in schools and the related role of school leaders.
Dr. Keating who is also a research associate in the National Anti-Bullying Centre is currently leading a pan-European project on gender and violence in primary schools.
