Tech-play for Little Minds
Local preschoolers and their carers took part in a tech-play workshop on Thursday 20th September 2018, organised by Dr Gillian Lake, Donna Carolan and Dr Margaret Leahy, DCU Institute of Education. A range of specially designed activities were presented, in order to explore how technology can be a positive way to increase interactions between parents/carers and their young child. The event was run in partnership with Talent Garden in DCU Alpha in Glasnevin and enabled the young children to play and learn through technology. The children learned to code using innovative programmable mini-robots. They also enjoyed using tablets to engage with story, song and games and recorded themselves using digital technology. Parents had the opportunity to learn about how they can positively support their child’s development, through high-quality interaction with technology. The event marks the establishment of a partnership between DCU IoE and Talent Garden on technology in the Early Years.
