MEd SpLD Student Award Presentations: Specialist Assessor and Teacher Awards (APCs) from British Dyslexia Association
The students on the M.Ed SpLD/Dyslexia received their Assessment Practising Certificates and became associate members of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) at an award ceremony in DCU's Cregan library on Saturday 11th May 2019. The awards were presented by Mike Johnson, Executive Chair of the British Dyslexia Association. The students are now qualified specialist assessors and teachers in specific learning difficulties and dyslexia, the only such qualification in the Republic of Ireland. They will go on to graduate with their Masters degree in the Autumn.
The students presented findings and reflections from their reflective inquiry projects at a morning session attended by Mike Johnson and the lecture team. These projects were based around collaborative interventions in their school setting to enhance their agency as specialist teachers and support their schools to meet the needs of all learners. Mike Johnson also presented his research findings on the views of students with literacy difficulties on the dyslexia friendly classroom. It was a great day for all involved.
