SALIS Field Trip to Europe

A group of students on the BA Applied Language and Translation Studies (SALIS) went on a field trip to Europe in January.

Hosted by the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe they explored some of the central institutions at the heart of Europe: the European Commission, the European Parliament and the General Directorate for Translation.

This was a unique opportunity to discuss plurilingual societies with students from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, as well as discovering how translators, interpreters, and other language professionals work.

Sorcha Farrell, a second year student on the degree, who relished the experience stated: 'I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the EU institutions. It was eye opening and really helped cement what I wanted to do in the future with my degree. It was incredibly exciting and I loved every minute!'
