Overview of Faculty Administration

The Faculty Office is a team staff that provides professional administrative support for all Faculty constituent units including Schools, Research Centres/Groups, and Institutes. Faculty Office administrative staff have a broad overview of all University processes and procedures and advise academic staff in relation to academic programme development and management, academic operations, student progression, financial and staff processes.  The key areas of responsibility for the faculty administrative team include but are not restricted to:

  • Financial management;
  • Academic programme development and management;
  • Examination and assessment administration;
  • Programme board administration;
  • Timetabling;
  • Faculty space management;
  • Student recruitment;
  • Staff recruitment;
  • Postgraduate research administration;
  • Oversight and co-ordination of marketing activities and information;
  • Maintenance of Faculty web pages;
  • Participation and representation on University Committees and Working Groups;
  • Implementation and dissemination of University/Faculty policies and procedures.

The Faculty Office acts as a conduit between the Faculty’s Schools and Centres and central University units in relation to many aspects of administration. This activity is complemented by support from administrative staff in the Schools and Centres. The Faculty Office also facilitates the development and implementation of university policy at local level.
