SCRÍBHNEOIR CÓNAITHE GAEILGE 2018-2019
Is mian le hOllscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath a fhógairt go bhfuiltear tar éis an scríbhneoir, Réaltán Ní Leannáin, a cheapadh mar Scríbhneoir Cónaithe Gaeilge don bhliain 2019. Post é seo atá á chómhaoiniú ag an gComhairle Ealaíon agus ag DCU.
Rugadh Réaltán Ní Leannáin i mBéal Feirste agus tá BA sa Léann Éireannach agus sa Spáinnis ó Ollscoil Uladh aici. Tá tréimhsí caite aici ag teagasc ag an dara leibhéal agus ag léachtóireacht i gColáiste na Tríonóide, Ollscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath agus in Ollscoil na Banríona, Béal Feirste.
Foilsíodh cnuasach filíochta léi, Turas Ailse, in 2011 a bunaíodh ar dhialann a scríobh sí tar éis di a fháil amach go raibh an ailse uirthi. Thosaigh sí blag, http://turasailse.blogspot.ie/, chomh maith, a bhain gradam amach is atá beo go fóill. Foilsíodh cnuasach gearrscéalta léi, Dílis, sa bhliain 2015 agus drama raidió, Is iomaí Cor, in 2019.
Is í an chéad scríbhneoir í a chuaigh thar lear ar sparántacht Focail Eile sa bhliain 2016. Tá cuntas aici faoin chónaitheacht sin ag http://www.focaileile.ie/gae/blog/ag_deanamh_reidh agus ar shaothar dá cuid don tionscnamh sin i gcúig theanga an tionscadail ag http://otherwordsliterature.eu/. Ba mhaith le DCU a ceapachán a thréaslú le Réaltán agus fáilte a chur roimpi i measc phobal na hOllscoile. Guímid bliain bhisiúil, thaitneamhach di inár gcuideachta.
IRISH-LANGUAGE WRITER-IN-RESIDENCE 2018-2019
Dublin City University is delighted to announce the appointment of writer, Réaltán Ní Leannáin, as Irish-Language Writer-in-Residence for the academic year 2018-2019. The position is funded jointly by The Arts Council and DCU.
Réaltán was born in Belfast and holds a BA in Irish Studies and Spanish from Ulster University. She has taught at post-primary level and has lectured in Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and Queen's University, Belfast.
She wrote a collection of poems based on a diary she kept following a diagnosis of cancer, which was published in 2011 as Turas Ailse. She also started a companion blog http://turasailse.blogspot.ie/ which has attracted awards and is still live. Her collection of short stories, Dílis, was published in 2015 and her radio drama, Is iomaí Cor, appeared this year.
She was the first Irish-language writer to go abroad with the OtherWords bursary scheme in 2016. Her account of her experiences can be read on the OtherWords blog at http://www.focaileile.ie/gae/blog/ag_deanamh_reidh as well as work she wrote there, translated into all the languages involved in the project at http://otherwordsliterature.eu/. DCU is delighted to welcome Réaltán to the University community and we congratulate her on her appointment. We wish her a successful and enjoyable year with us.
