Dr Paola Rivetti, DCU wins Early-Career Researcher of the Year Award from the Irish Research Council
Dr Paola Rivetti, Assistant Professor in Assistant Professor in the Politics of the Middle East, in DCU’s School of Law and Government has been named as the Irish Research Council ‘Early-Career Researcher of the Year’ at an award ceremony in Dublin.
The award was presented as the Council marks 15 years of the Irish Research Council and its forebears, the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology.
Dr Rivetti was awarded the prize for her research in politics of the Middle East and international relations. Dr Rivetti had earlier won an Irish Research Council New Horizons Research Project Starter Grant of almost €100,000 to investigate protest cycles and the management of dissent in authoritarian settings, with a specific focus on the Islamic Republic of Iran. She has published articles in: 'International Journal of Middle East Studies', 'Democratization', ‘British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies’, ‘Journal of European Integration’, ‘Middle Eastern Studies’, ‘Mediterranean Politics’, ‘Alternatives: Global Local Political’; ‘Foreign Policy-Middle East Channel’; 'Anthropology of the Middle East'; 'Middle East Report online' among the others.
She is co-editor of Islamists and the Politics of the Arab Uprisings: Governance, Pluralisation and Contention (Edinburgh University Press, 2018) and Continuity and change before and after the Arab uprisings. Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt (Routledge, 2015)
