Professor Máirín Nic Eoin enrolled as member of RIA
Professor Máirín Nic Eoin, Cregan Professor of Irish in St Patrick's College/DCU, was one of the 22 distinguished scientists and academics enrolled in the Royal Irish Academy on Friday, 27th May. The Royal Irish Academy is Ireland's leading body of experts in the sciences and humanities, and election to membership of the Academy is the highest academic honour in Ireland.
Professor Nic Eoin was elected in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Irish-language scholarship, particularly in the areas of cultural and literary criticism. Speaking after the ceremony, she expressed her delight at receiving this honour: 'Is mór an onóir agus an phribhléid dom a bheith tofa mar bhall d'Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann. Is aitheantas é do Léann na Nua-Ghaeilge agus is mór an spreagadh é dom féin go pearsanta.'
