Education Matters: Readings in Pastoral Care for school chaplains, guidance counsellors and teachers (Veritas: Dublin), edited by DCU’s Dr James O'Higgins Norman has been launched at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra.
With a preface by Prof. Thomas Groome of Boston College, the book includes twenty chapters by respected researchers and practitioners who are leaders in their particular fields of education. Most importantly the book includes chapters from scholars in all of the DCU linked colleges to be incorporated into the new Institute of Education in 2016.
The book launch was held in the New Cregan Library on DCU St. Patrick's Campus, illustrating the existing collaborative relationships among researchers in the linked colleges that will form the new DCU Institute of Education in 2016 and heralding the significant role that will be made by the new Institute as a leader in education studies in Ireland.
Professor Daire Keogh, President of St. Patrick's College, who launched the book, highlighted the very important contribution the publication will make to education studies. In his address Dr. James O'Higgins Norman focussed on the role of pastoral care in ensuring that young people experience equality of opportunity in education.
