Conference on Ukraine
DCU’s IICRR is to host a conference on “Ukraine: one year after Maidan” in Dublin on Thursday 12th February jointly with Georgetown University and the McCain Institute, Washington DC.
The impact of the February 2014 Uprising in Ukraine continues to be felt around the world and its consequences remain uncertain. This conference seeks to provide an informed analysis of what precipitated the events, what has developed subsequently, and how the imbroglio might be resolved. It will survey events in the wake of the uprising such as the annexation of Crimea, the election of President Petro Poroshenko and rising tensions amongst Russia’s neighbours. The conference also will explore the options for the EU to address the unresolved problems of the region that have implications well beyond Ukraine’s borders.
Keynote speaker: Aleksander Kwaśniewski, President of Poland from 1995 to 2005.
Other confirmed speakers include:
- Sergii Reva, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland
- Speakers from Russia, Moldova and the South Caucasus region.
- Representatives from the EU
Venue: The Gallery, The Helix, Dublin City University
Date and time: Thursday 12th February 2015 (all day)
