Multimedia graduate exhibition

This years’ exhibition celebrated 25 years of the BSc in Multimedia

On Thursday 25 April, the annual Multimedia Graduate Exhibition took place in The Digital Hub.

The exhibition is part of a series of events marking the 25th anniversary of the programme, which will include an alumni celebration later in 2024.

Dr. Marcos Dias, programme chair of the BSc in Multimedia said:

"The Multimedia Graduate Exhibition showcases the strength and scope of our student’s group projects, developed through a year-long process that involves brainstorming, academic research, iterative design and user testing. They communicate and address societal issues and challenges, such as the increasing role of AI in everyday life, climate change and health issues. We are proud of the high quality of the projects on display this year, and our student’s strong skills in multimedia development, communication and promotion.

The BSc in Multimedia programme has a strong reputation for delivering excellent and award-winning graduates, such as Medb Riordan, who won an Outstanding Debut BAFTA Film Award this year. Our graduates work across the media and creative industries in a variety of roles, including TV and film production, game design and development, social media management and interaction design.

The course was the first of its kind in Ireland and is the longest running, continuing to produce exceptional graduates.”

The exhibition showcased the collaborative projects showcasing the final year students’ work across multiple media forms, including film, video games, websites, augmented reality, e-books and interactive installations.

An awards ceremony was held at the end of the exhibition. The Project Communication Award was won by the group project AI.ive, a narrative driven game that explores artificial intelligence (AI) autonomy and human-AI relationships. This year the programme also introduced an Audience Awards. More than 180 visitors voted for their favourite project, and the award was won by the group project Unravel, which combines a printed zine with augmented reality (AR) showcasing Dublin creative workers to a Gen Z audience.
