Multimedia Students to host unique 'Threads Exhibition'
On Friday, 1st April, all are welcome to join the students from the BSc in Multimedia and specifically from the module CM299 - Media Spaces - which is taught by Dr Marcos Dias, for a unique exhibition from 11am to 4pm in the Solas Room in the U Building. This event will feature seven exhibits designed by seven student groups under a single theme: Threads.
About the Threads Exhibition
As we slowly emerge from the multiple lockdowns and restrictions, the never-ending COVID domination of media channels and the social impact of living online, we are trying to reconnect and to restore our social connections, which were for a long time hanging by threads.
Some of these threads are invisible, some are simply the cables and radio waves that enable us to experience a bare resemblance of a pre-COVID world. Regardless, these threads are everywhere and in constant flow; rupturing, being strengthened or becoming more complex and expanding.
How do we make sense of these threads as representative of the imperative to connect and to restore social interaction while the pandemic is ongoing? What are the threads that really matter to us? How can these be visualized and acknowledged? And how can we get rid of undesirable threads, or reconfigure weak and failing threads?
Join our multimedia students on Friday to find answers to these questions and more!
