Key updates to the online Research Integrity Training Programme (AI)
A major development in March 2024 was the introduction of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. The aim of the act is to promote the development and use of trustworthy AI in Europe. The act seeks to ensure that AI developments respect fundamental rights, safety and ethical principles, and address the potential risks of powerful AI models. As the AI Act is implemented, many issues will arise that have an impact on the use of AI in research across all disciplines.
Since generative AI can be used throughout the research process – from ideation and defining problems to synthesising information and publishing results – it is important to explore the potential opportunities and challenges of generative AI. In this session we will present some key updates to the online research integrity training programme that focus on the responsible use of AI in research and so could be useful as you progress with your research project.
If you completed the Research Integrity Programme before Sept 2024 then you may not be aware of these important changes.
Presenter: Dr Catherine Dean, Research Ethics and Integrity Officer from DCU's Research Support Services
