Academic biography

Iarscoláire de chuid Choláiste Pobail Ráth Chairn é Seán Mac Risteaird. Bhain sé a chuid cáilíochtaí acadúla amach in Ollscoil Mhá Nuad. Dhírigh a thionscnamh Ph.D. ar na scríbhneoirí comhaimseartha Micheál Ó Conghaile agus Cathal Ó Searcaigh agus an léamh curtha i gcomhthéacs theoirc na haiteachta mar uirlis léirmheastóireachta. Chaith sé tréimhsí ag teagasc in Ollscoil Mhá Nuad, i gColáiste Mhuire gan Smál (Campas Dhúrlas), in St Thomas University (Fredericton, Ceanada), agus i nGaelchultúr. D’oibrigh sé mar Oifigeach Forbartha don tsraith scrúdaithe Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) idir 2017-2019 in Ollscoil Mhá Nuad. Tá spéis mhór aige i léann na haiteachta (queer studies), i gcúrsaí inscne, agus sa chritic chultúrtha agus liteartha. Bronnadh FHEA de chuid Advance HE ar Sheán in 2021. Ceapadh Seán ina Chathaoirleach Cláir don Bhaitsiléir san Oideachas i nGaeilge agus Fraincis nó Gearmáinis nó Spáinnis in 2022. Foilsíodh a chéad mhonagraf Teanga don Tost sa bhliain 2024. 


Seán taught in various third level institutions including Maynooth University, in Mary Immaculate College (Thurles Campus), in St Thomas University (Fredericton, Canada) and in Gaelchultúr. Seán then went on and worked as a Development Officer for Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) between 2017-2019 in Maynooth University. His research interests include queer studies, in gender, and in cultural and literary criticism and theory. Seán was awarded FHEA status of Advance HE in 2021. Seán was appointed as the Programme Chairperson for the Bachelor of Education in Gaeilge and French or German or Spanish in 2022. His first monograph titled Teanga don Tost was published in 2024.
