Real-Time Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
By enrolling in this micro-credential, students will have the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of high-speed digital signal processing. This program is specifically designed to provide a well-rounded education that not only instills a solid theoretical foundation but also equips students with practical experience in applying modern DSP techniques. Throughout this micro-credential, you will delve deep into the intricacies of high-speed DSP technology. By immersing yourself in this subject matter, you will become proficient at efficiently filtering and processing data at incredibly fast speeds. This skill set is highly sought after across various industries where real-time data analysis plays a critical role.
Upon successful completion of this micro-credential students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a mastery and detailed appreciation of the theoretical founding principles, central algorithms and current implementation-focused technology of DSP.
- Categorize the different classes of problems in DSP, and to decide upon appropriate methodologies and technologies for their solution.
- Design and implement algorithmic solutions for solving advanced DSP problems.
- Design and implement DSP algorithms for real-time applications.
- Establish and categorize hardware/software boundaries in DSP
- Define embedded systems with consideration to cost, power, accuracy and other constraints.
- Conduct literature searches, abstract and summarize relevant ideas and techniques in DSP- related areas, and demonstrate scientific report writing to as Masters level.
- Demonstrate the use of analysis and presentation packages relevant to DSP.
A Primary Honours degree, Level 8 in Electronic/Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Sciences or other Cognate/Engineering Disciplines. Applications are also invited from diverse educational and/or employment backgrounds, with applications evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
And also to indicate the required documentation:
- Please provide Academic Transcripts for final year of study where appropriate (English translation)
- All applicants must submit a copy of their passport
There is no availability for a deferred entry onto a micro-credential.
If applicable, evidence of competence in the English language as per DCU entry requirements. Please see here.
