DCU Ethics and Privacy Week 2025
In an era where every click and interaction leaves behind a digital trace, the need to address the ethical dilemmas of the digital age has never been more pressing. Events like the Cambridge Analytica scandal serve as stark reminders, thrusting us into a landscape where privacy and data protection are at the forefront of public discourse. These issues are not confined to a single discipline; they span a wide array of fields, including social sciences, law, ethics, computing, engineering, mathematics, healthcare, and business. The challenges we face are as varied as the domains they intersect, requiring a collaborative approach to navigate their complexities.
To address these concerns, Dr Fiachra Ó Brolcháin from the Institute of Ethics at DCU, Dr Edoardo Celeste from the School of Law and Government at DCU, and Dr Ellen Rushe from the DCU School of Computing have organised three free, cross-disciplinary lunchtime lectures for DCU's Ethics and Privacy Week. These talks, which will take place both online and on DCU's Glasnevin Campus, aim to bring together a diverse range of experts to explore the current ethical and privacy challenges that are shaping our digital future.
