Dr Gabriel-Miro Muntean and NEWTON scoop George Samaras HAAPIE Award 2019
Dr Gabriel-Miro Muntean, Associate Professor at the School of Electronic Engineering, has, in collaboration with a NEWTON project team, received the prestigious 2019 George Samaras HAAPIE Award.
Presented at the 4th International Workshop on Human Aspects in Adaptive and Personalized Interactive Environments (HAAPIE) in Larnaca, Cypus, the award recognised Dr Muntean and collaborators Ioana Ghergulescu, Arghir-Nicolae Moldovan and Cristina Muntean for quality of content of their conference paper entitled 'Interactive Personalised STEM Virtual Lab Based on Self-Directed Learning and Self Efficacy'.
The 2019 HAAPIE Award continues a run of success for Dr Muntean, whose individual efforts were recognised, in May of this year, in the receipt of the prestigious 2019 DCU President's Award for Research.
NEWTON, a three year project funded by EU Horizon 2020, seeks to develop innovative ​forms of technology with a view to testing & implementing them, in learning environments, to enhance student engagement with STEM subjects across all levels of the educational system.
