Top Indian Undergraduate Students Partake in Research in DCU’s Faculty of Engineering and Computing

July 15th marked the successful culmination of the DCU (Ireland)/VIT University (India) Summer Internship Programme.  For the fourth consecutive year, DCU’s Faculty of Engineering & Computing welcomed three top-performing undergraduate students from VIT who took part in various innovative research projects across its three Schools (Electronic Engineering; Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering; Computing).  Students Gunjun Ajuha, Tapan Mujumdar and Tushar Chouhan were matched with an academic supervisor in one of the 3 Schools, where they spent seven weeks working in dedicated research laboratories alongside existing DCU students.

Their work contributed to a number of topical research projects funded across the Faculty, i.e.  the development of a learning tool for older adults (Computing);   the implementation of cryptographical  encryption using a hardware router (Electronics); the development of a Siemens GreenPower Formula 23 kit car (Mechanical).

The programme represents just one initiative in a wider collaboration between the two international institutions.  Aside from the opportunity of welcomed cultural exchange, the collaboration affords staff and students in both universities an opportunity to create and broaden its teaching, research and enterprise opportunities and outputs.  The long-term aim of such exchanges is to create new knowledge and technologies and to share the benefits across a wider, international community.

DCU wishes Gunjan, Tapan and Tushar every success with their future studies.
