PhD Studentship in Optical Switching Network Modelling and OptimisationApplications are invited for a funded three-year PhD Studentship position with the Research Institute for Networks and Communications Engineering (RINCE), School of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland.
Their research programme, leading to the degree of PhD, will focus on investigating, developing and validating mathematical methods for guaranteeing cost/performance levels in Optical Burst Switched networks through use of analytic network resource modelling, multi-objective non-linear optimisation techniques and design and implementation of discrete-event simulations. PhD in Bio-Medical Image Analysis (Computer Vision)Research topic: Computer aided detection and diagnosis in cardiovascular biology.
PhD Details: The candidate will be required to carry out international level research in image analysis, classification and tracking of molecular and cellular structures. This will involve developing and designing novel computer based solutions that will allow the automatic extraction of key image features with a view to a robust and reliable quantitative analysis, classification or tracking of the key information/data within the scene.
