EU Commission Invited Presentation on Inclusive Systems for Bullying and Early School Leaving Prevention

Professor Paul Downes, Professor of Psychology of Education and Director, Educational Disadvantage gave an invited online presentation on Inclusive Systems for Bullying and Early School Leaving Prevention for the EU Commission’s School Education Gateway on May 17, 2024.

The webinar was attended by one hundred teachers across Europe. https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/professional-development/webinars/european-commissions-webinar-multidimensional-issues-school-bullying-prevention and included a question and answer session.

It was based on monographs Professor Downes led, published by the EU Commission, in the areas of school bullying and inclusive systems in education, as well as DCU Educational Disadvantage Centre’s Irish based research on students’ experiences and voices on these issues in school. The interplay between bullying and early school leaving was highlighted as part of a focus on developing whole school systems of relational spaces and specific strategies for teachers.
