O'Connor and Sigerson Medal Presentation
It was great to celebrate the achievements of our O’Connor Cup and Sigerson Cup winning teams in the Crowne Plaza Santry on Easter Monday April 21st. A crowd of 180 people were in attendance, as students where celebrated in the company of their parents, some siblings and the successful management teams and received their coveted medals.

Earlier in the day both teams were present on DCU Glasnevin campus as they got their official team photographs taken in front of the Albert College building. A notable moment as the students get their photo taken in their club jersey to recognise the fact that it is the club who have led all of the students to their achievements.

Professor Dáire Keogh, Ethan Dunne, and Bryan Cullen
It was fantastic to have DCU Alumni and 2006 Sigerson Cup winning captain, Bryan Cullen, on hand to present the medals to the winning Sigerson team, particularly poignant considering three of his club mates from Skerries Harps were receiving medals, following their huge contribution to the success.
The two successful management teams led by Sean Fox and Stephen Duff respectively were thanked from the stage and the floor for the work they done.
The evening was particularly memorable for the Duggan family in Longford and the McLaughlin family in Mayo, as both brother and sister took medals home. Ella and Jack were the sibling pairing from Clonguish in Longford who collected both medal with their father Derek. While Finbar and Fionnuala from Westport collected their medals with their parents Fionnuala and Danny.

Emma Duggan presented with Sports Scholar of the year
The outstanding contribution to sport in DCU of Emma Duggan was also acknowledged on the evening as she received Sports Scholar of the year. A fitting recognition considering her leadership role as the O’Connor Cup team managed to secure a third straight League & Championship double.
The evening was wrapped up by DCU president Daire Keogh, who acknowledges the huge support that parents have given their children along with the great enjoyment their children have afforded them with their successes on the playing fields and achievements academically. Daire also outlined the huge impact that students from DCU Dóchas Éireann GAA club have had across the country and will continue to do so, outlining that similar to the translation of the clubs name that they are Ireland’s Hope.
